Bradford on Avon

Bradford on Avon is a beautiful historic town situated on the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal. Enjoy the many good restaurants, cafes and boutique-style shops. It’s also well worth visiting the magnificent Tithe Barn and the ancient Saxon Church or enjoying the pleasant towpath walk along the canal to the Avoncliff Aqueduct and the charming Cross Guns pub.  

Bath

Only 7 miles away and 15 minutes by train, beautiful Georgian Bath has lots of things to see and do. The ancient Roman Baths and the modern Thermae Bath Spa is the only natural thermal hot springs in Britain that you can bathe in. The iconic Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey and Victoria Park and the magnificent Pulteney Wier are a few of the many must-see attractions and well worth a visit. 

Activities

There are lots of family friendly sights and activities to experience and enjoy locally:

  • Cycling – Bikes can be hired to cycle along the scenic (and flat) Kennet and Avon Canal towpath.
  • Boating – You can get a day hire of a canal boat.
  • Canoe – Canadian-style canoes can be hired on the canal.
  • Walking – A walk along the river and canal at Bradford on Avon should not be missed or you can visit the White Horse at Westbury for superb views across Wiltshire and beyond.
  • Golf – The Cumberwell 45 hole golf course and driving range is just 2 miles away.
  • History – There are lots of National Trust properties close by including The Courts, Westwood Manor, Great Chalfield Manor, Laycock Abbey, Dyrham Park, Stourhead, Cley Hill, Lytes Cary Manor, Montacute House, Tintinhull Garden and Tyntesfield.
  • Attractions – Longleat, Bowood House, Salisbury Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge, Clifton Suspension Bridge, Caen Hill Locks and Stonehenge are all within 45 minutes and many more….
